Bernard Bégaud is Emeritus Professor at the University of Bordeaux (Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacoepidemiology) after having been dean of the School of Medicine and Chancellor of this University. In the early 80s’, he joined the group who funded the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE). He then taught pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology for fifteen years at McGill University and Université de Montréal. For more than forty years, he has been regularly called upon for his expertise in pharmacoepidemiology and risk assessment by both the French Ministry of Health and several medicines agencies. He currently chairs the Scientific Board of the Epi-Phare programme funded both by the French Health Insurance System (CNAM) and Medicines Agency (ANSM).
