Joan-Ramon Laporte is Honorary Professor of Therapeutics and Clinical Pharmacology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He started a voluntary reporting system of adverse effects of medicines which was later extended to Spain and became the Spanish System of Pharmacovigilance. He is the author of several case control studies, clinical trials and meta-analyses of clinical trials.
