Ugo Moretti was born in 1958 and lives in Verona. He is Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Verona, where is a teacher of Pharmacology in many courses related to the School of Medicine and is the director of a Master in Pharmacovigilance and regulatory activities. Since 2008 he is the director of the Regional Pharmacovigilance Centre of Veneto Region and since 2015 of the Pharmacovigilance Centre of the Province of Bolzano. Since 2016 is a member of the National Commission in pharmacovigilance (Segretariato di Supporto e Coordinamento dell’Ufficio di Farmacovigilanza) of the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA). Up to 2021 he was Member of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG).
He is an expert in pharmacovigilance and vaccinovigilance with special reference to data mining and signal detection activities. Within an agreement between AIFA and the University of Verona he works since many years with the Italian Medicines Agency in the signal detection activities of the national pharmacovigilance database leading the development of web-based tools for data mining of spontaneous reporting data and for web reporting. He is also consultant of AIFA for drug and reactions terminologies issues.
Within a collaboration between the University of Verona and the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) he led the development of a national web based reporting system and analysis of adverse events to dietary supplements, complementary and alternative medicines.
